Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)

Today I decided finally to post some info about the near future technology coming around – WSN. Wireless Sensor Networks is a wireless network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants, at different locations. The development of wireless sensor networks was originally motivated by military applications such as battlefield surveillance. However, wireless sensor networks are now used in many civilian application areas, including environment and habitat monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation, and traffic control. You can read more info from Wiki WSN . I have searched around the net a bit and I found companies investing in this technology and even producing its first products. Here is a list: Wireless Sensor Companies:

  1. Crossbow
  2. Sentilla ( Moteiv )
  3. CSIRO
  4. MeshNetics
  5. Luxoft Labs
  6. Invensys
  7. New Enterprise Associates
  8. Shasta Ventures
  9. IntelCapital
  10. Arch Rock
  11. Dust Networks (backed by CIA investment arm In-Q-Tel), Foundation Capital
  12. Ember
  13. Sensinode – (based in Finland,European startup 2005)
  14. ScatterWeb – based in Germany(2005),ScatterWeb.NET

I would say that there will be more coming in near future from these companies not only new and inovative embedded technologies for the Industry but also more financial progress.Even Sun come around with their first product for developers – Sun SPOT development kit.
